Subscription Questions

Starting with v4.0.0 Context Camera becomes a free app with optional Context Camera Pro subscription. Users who first installed the app prior to v4.0.0 should automatically have access to Context Camera Pro.

The free basic version of Context Camera has all the features of the Pro version but photo exports are limited to 1600x1200 px (2MP) and a watermark is applied.

Do I have to pay again for an app I already paid for?

No. Users who installed a version of Context Camera prior to v4.0.0 should automatically have Context Camera Pro.

To determine eligibility, Context Camera checks the receipt supplied by the App Store. If this receipt is missing, you will be prompted to “restore purchases” which should fetch a fresh receipt from the App Store. If you have any issues with this please send me an email.

Why subscriptions?

  1. Context Camera doesn’t make enough money to justify continued development. Making it free with paid subscription will allow many more users to test and evaluate the app, hopefully leading to more sales.
  2. A subscription model better reflects the significant effort involved in maintaining and supporting an app.
  3. A subscription model incentivises me to make the app better for current users instead of chasing new sales.
  4. Due to App Store rules/conventions developers aren’t able to offer paid upgrades.
